Your Soft Strength

Your Soft Strength,
by Deborah Martel Rogers

(in honor of James Lincoln Martel Rogers, AKA as "Bomboncito")

I traveled my world
To touch your silver summit
And hold your wrinkled beauty
One more life ...

You closed your mirrors shut,
Or so it seemed to be:
A last farewell, a gentle breeze.
How much I loved thee then!
But missing you before you leave
Is just the sweetest pain
I've ever felt.

How wrong these thoughts!
(They were)
You'll choose departure time
In unison with your smile
Deciding that you'd stay again
Surrounded me with hope
And hands:

Your near transparent hugs
my penetrating eyes
met yours.
I know.
You knew.

We got more time
To talk about how much
We'll miss each other.

Your soft strength
Did guide my soul
From far away
And close enough
In dreams

Of future galaxies,
And gone sand dunes
Disruptive waves of laughter
Our crazy lives

In such a wonderful picture
You framed
For
Me
What an honor
